Plenty of Notice & Defending a Title

Exactly one week before Halloween, we went to a squadron children's costume party. Now, if you've been with me awhile, you know how seriously I take Halloween. Very seriously. While the costume contest that we enter and win every year did not take place this year, I am happy to report that Zoe did win "Cutest Costume" at the squadron party.


Zoe was a cute little scarecrow and Noah refused to be a crow, so he was a "scary Halloween raven". Don't mess that up. I simply dressed as a farmer.

As we walked in the door of our home after the party was over, Noah announced, " I know what I want to be next year!" I said, " Son, Halloween is still a week away and you are already planning next year?" ( Well, he is MY son)

I was anticipating hearing that he wanted to be some character from Star Wars which he has wanted to be for the last two years ( last year, I let him go as Darth Vader, but managed to talk him out of a store-bought costume this year). Much to my surprise, he said he wanted to be:

That's right... The Empire State Building. I am fascinated, proud, excited, scared and horrified all at the same time. But at least I have a year to figure it out.
