"What?", I asked.
"What does, 'DJ- bazaar' mean? "
"I am reminding myself that your dad is working the bazaar this weekend and won't be home for dinner."
"Oh, because I thought you were calling him "bizarre"."
"Noah- look at how I spelled it. Are those words spelled the same?"
"No, I know that, but I didn't think YOU knew that!"
I was offended. I started into a lengthy narrative about how there was a time in my life when I wasn't a mom and I managed to graduate from college having been on the dean's list and the president's list and also how in public school, I was on the UIL spelling team.
It all fell on deaf ears. He doesn't get it and I realized I didn't need to justify myself to him.
About two weeks later, he came home with his spelling test from school. He is a good speller and he made a 100 on the test- having just missed the bonus words- so I almost threw the paper in the recycle bin with barely a second glance.
But something caught my eye…. something so fantastically DELICIOUSLY awesome!
Wonderful parent that I am- I couldn't let it go. In fact, I circled it and tacked it on the fridge for an entire week. Lucky for me he is a good sport about it.
